Friday 1st March 2024, 9:30am – 3:30pm
On behalf of Corrymeela, we would like to share an exciting upcoming seminar for history teachers called ‘Facing our History, Shaping the Future: Teacher Seminar’.
Message from Gareth Gould, Programme Manager at Corrymeela:
“As Corrymeela seeks to restart our Facing History programming, we’d be delighted if you would consider joining us for this fully-funded seminar. For more information on Facing History see the attached flyer or the websites of partners, Facing History US and Facing History UK.
“We will be joined by Michelle Perkins, Senior Programme Associate at ‘Facing History and Ourselves UK’, who will explore methods for building a classroom community and introduce some new Facing History UK resources.
“Sub-cover costs are offered for this training opportunity and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We are hoping to ensure as many schools as possible can avail of this opportunity and therefore, may not be able to accommodate sub-cover for multiple teachers from the same school.
“Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the session.
“If you would like to book your place or have any further questions please email garethgould@corrymeela.org.”
NB: Facing History programmes use lessons from history to prepare students to participate in civic life, engage critically with their own society and challenge bigotry and hate. ‘Facing our History, Shaping the Future’ is a Corrymeela project that has shared Facing History materials, methodology, and practices with schools in Northern Ireland since 2011.
